Why do we need to charge Subscriptions?
At present our District, County and National Scout levy is about £40 per member per year. We have to fund our insurance, leader training, activity badges and training aids. The subscription does not include the cost of special activities i.e. camps or visits away, nor the provision of joining handbooks or the group necker (this is part of the investiture cost)
How are Subscriptions Collected?
The first two months subscription are to be paid by cash or cheque to the section leader on first joining the group. All future subscriptions are to be paid directly to the Group Treasurer. The preferred method of payment is by Standing Order directly into the Group Account. This method makes the complex financial administration much easier. Alternatives, e.g. cash payments in advance, must be agreed with the Group Treasurer. An investiture fee to cover neckers, books, badges and woggle will need to be paid to the section leader at time of investiture.
Payment by Standing Order
On joining, complete the Standing Order form and return to the Section Leader. The subscription of £10 per month will be transferred from your account to the Group’s. If applicable, please complete a separate Standing Order for each member.
