Penny for the Guy

Penny for the Guy

This weekend a few of the Scouts went on a one night camp. We had a great time and learnt loads. We made pit fires, chocolate apples and pumpkin lanterns. We were visited by Alan who told us about shooting game and introduced us to his gun dog. Guns are dangerous and we found out about many of the safety rules. We prepared a couple of pigeons which had been shoot earlier, once they were cooked we ate some for tea, it tasted lovely.

After making our guys a falconer brought his birds, we went out to see if the hawk could catch either a pigeon or rabbit, unfortunately all the birds had gone to roost elsewhere and the rabbits were hiding.

We then had a small bonfire to burn the Guys and prepared to go on our night hike. Farmer Phil told us lots of interesting things while we were out. We returned to our tents just before the rain well after midnight. When we woke up we cooked breakfast, tidied the site and had a go at boiling water using a variety of different cookers.
