Beaver Investiture

December 4th, 2012

This short and simple ceremony will be held as a part of the normal colony meeting in the evening and parents/guardians are invited to attend. Do remember your camera.

Scouting is a uniformed organisation. The new Beaver Scout should attend the investiture in uniform with the exception of their necker, woggle and badges.
The Beaver uniform is as follows: A turquoise long sleeved sweatshirt in the approved style incorporating the scout association’s logo on the right sleeve, Group necker and woggle. Official dark blue activity trousers and dark footwear are preferred. The official scout association uniform sweatshirt may be obtained from Rawcliffes 17, Colliergate, York or the Internet scout shops, or
The group necker (not available from the shop) along with badges, handbook and woggle are supplied by the scout group. An investiture fee of £15 is charged to cover the cost of these.

With certain exceptions. Beaver Scout badges are provided without further charge. The badges presented at the investiture should be positioned as shown. These will include: Membership Badge, Group nametape, District and County badges.

The Beaver Scout promise – will be recited during the ceremony

I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
and to love God

Japanese Fans

November 30th, 2011

This week we talked about beaver promises from around the world, such as from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. We then discussed the Japanese promise and learnt to say hello in Japanese. The beavers have been challenged to try and learn this promise and ‘konnichi wa’.

I was a big fan of these...

Group Camp 2010

September 12th, 2010

Just got back from our group camp this weekend. 26 Cubs and Scouts were joined by 10 Beavers on Saturday for an indoor camp in the woods. Oh and don’t forget Saxon & Missy the group dogs.

We had a go at lots of great things: Archery, shooting, traversing wall and mountain biking just some. One Cubs say’s “The best camp ever.”

Akela says “Thank you to the youngsters being a real credit to the group.”

Will he hit gold?

Square lash the poles for Baloo's tent!

The Scouts mended the bikes for the site.

Making Cars

October 8th, 2009

This week at Beavers we had a go at recycling some rubbish. We used it to make vehicles. It was tricky but good fun. We finished off with a game.

October 4th, 2009

Two of our Beavers took part in Selby Beaver-Opoly with Akela. Brown Beaver and Akela George turned Selby into a huge Monopoly board. Each team had a game board and a dice, the idea was to roll the dice and travel round Selby visiting lots of places. We managed to stay out of Jail, luckily or we would have had to walk to the police station. With the help of two borrowed Brayton Beavers we managed to collect the highest number of points and win. Well done us.
